The night north London stood still

Tuesday, 19th May 2026. Manchester City drew 1–1 at Bournemouth, and within moments the streets of north London erupted. Red scarves appeared from windows across Highbury and Holloway. Impromptu celebrations spilled onto the pavements of West Hampstead, Kilburn and Hampstead. This was the night Arsenal ended a 22-year wait and were confirmed as Premier League champions for the 14th time in their history.

Here at Homesforth, your local estate agents in West Hampstead, we felt every bit of it. North London is not just where we work — it is where we live, where we raise families, and where we help people find their perfect homes every single day. When the community celebrates, we celebrate right alongside it.

"After three consecutive runners-up finishes, Mikel Arteta's side finally refused to be bridesmaids — and north London has never felt more alive."

How Arsenal won the Premier League title in 2025–26

Arsenal finished the season with 85 points — seven clear of Manchester City in second — after 26 wins, seven draws and just five defeats across the 38-game campaign. The title was not won through expansive, free-flowing football in the tradition of the great Arsène Wenger sides. But what Arteta's team delivered is something arguably harder to manufacture: relentless consistency, defensive discipline, and an unyielding refusal to crumble under pressure.

The numbers that define this title are at the back. Arsenal kept 19 clean sheets, conceded only 24 goals all season, and goalkeeper David Raya claimed the Golden Glove for the third year running. At the other end, Viktor Gyökeres marked his debut season at the club with 14 league goals, while 28 of Arsenal's 68 goals came from set pieces — 18 of those from corners alone, a new Premier League seasonal record.

Arsenal led the table for 200 days across the season. When City briefly nudged them off the top on goals scored in the final month, Arteta's side responded with four consecutive wins without conceding a single goal. A 1–0 victory over Burnley on 19th May moved them five points clear. City's draw at Bournemouth the following evening confirmed the title. The wait was over.

Why north London remains one of London's most desirable places to buy property

Football and property might seem like an unlikely pairing, but ask anyone who has bought a home in north London and they will tell you that community is one of the strongest draws. The local clubs, the matchday atmosphere, the collective identity that a football club gives a neighbourhood — these things genuinely matter to buyers and renters when they are deciding where to put down roots.

West Hampstead sits at a beautiful intersection of that community spirit and some of the most desirable residential streets in Greater London. Tree-lined roads, excellent transport links with three stations serving the Jubilee line, Overground and Thameslink, a thriving high street on West End Lane, outstanding local schools, and now a Premier League champion club just a short journey away. It is a compelling time to be a north Londoner, and an excellent moment to consider buying or renting in the area.

"The sense of belonging that a great football club gives a neighbourhood is something buyers genuinely value — and north London has it in abundance."

One more prize to go

The season is not quite done. On Saturday 30th May, Arsenal travel to Budapest to face holders Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final — bidding to win European football's greatest prize for the first time in the club's 140-year history. A Premier League and Champions League double would rank among the greatest achievements in English football. The entire north London community will be watching.

Come on you Reds. ????
